FOUNDER · REEVES COSMETIC DENTISTRY

Todd Reeves, DMD

Dr. Todd Reeves has practiced dentistry in Birmingham for more than three decades and established Reeves Cosmetic Dentistry in Greystone in October 1997. What began as Greystone Family Dentistry has grown into a comprehensive practice providing cosmetic, restorative and family dental care.

His approach has remained remarkably consistent through that growth. Understand the patient, understand the problem and make sure the person sitting in the chair understands the treatment being recommended.

GREYSTONE SINCE 1997

Founder, dentist and long-term steward of the practice.

Dr. Reeves combines comprehensive care with a strong cosmetic perspective and decades of experience following dentistry over time.

FROM UAB TO GREYSTONE

Dentistry in Birmingham Since 1995

Dr. Todd Reeves earned his dental degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in June 1995, graduating second in his class. Two years later, he established his own dental practice in Greystone and began building the patient relationships that continue to shape Reeves Cosmetic Dentistry today.

Nearly three decades in the same community creates a different perspective on dental treatment. Dr. Reeves has had the opportunity not only to complete dentistry, but to see how teeth, restorations and patients’ needs change over many years.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY WITH A COMPREHENSIVE VIEW

The Smile Is Important. So Are the Teeth Underneath It.

Dr. Reeves pursued additional cosmetic-dentistry education through the Las Vegas Institute after dental school. That training added another layer to a philosophy already centered on comprehensive dental health.

Cosmetic treatment is therefore considered alongside function, existing dentistry and the health of the supporting teeth. A beautiful result should still make sense biologically and function appropriately in the patient’s mouth.

That can mean veneers or broader cosmetic treatment when those solutions are appropriate. It can also mean choosing a more conservative approach when a smaller treatment solves the actual problem.

THE REEVES APPROACH

Appearance and function stay in the same conversation.

Cosmetic treatment should fit the patient, the bite and the condition of the teeth underneath it rather than exist as an isolated visual change.

THE PROCEDURE COMES AFTER THE PROBLEM

Dr. Reeves Believes Patients Should Understand Their Options

Patient education has been part of Dr. Reeves’ philosophy throughout the history of the practice. Reeves Cosmetic Dentistry continues to emphasize helping patients understand the available treatment options before making decisions about their care.

A useful conversation should explain what Dr. Reeves sees and why it matters. Patients can then weigh the benefits, limitations and timing of reasonable options instead of feeling as though dentistry is simply being prescribed to them.

Sometimes that leads to treatment. Sometimes it means monitoring an area and leaving healthy tooth structure alone.

EXPERIENCE WITHOUT STANDING STILL

More Than 30 Years in Dentistry. Still Learning.

Dental materials, technology and techniques have changed substantially since Dr. Reeves graduated from UAB. Continuing education has allowed him to evaluate those developments while keeping the same basic standard for deciding whether something belongs in patient care.

Newer does not automatically mean better, and familiar does not automatically mean outdated. The useful question is whether a technique or technology improves diagnosis, treatment or the patient’s experience.

Experience becomes most valuable when it remains open to better ways of solving a problem.

THE REEVES APPROACH

Experience and continuing education belong together.

The goal is not novelty for its own sake. New tools and techniques matter when they genuinely strengthen patient care.

TWO GENERATIONS OF REEVES DENTISTRY

Practicing Alongside Dr. Coleman Reeves

Dentistry has become a family profession for the Reeves family. Dr. Coleman Reeves earned his dental degree from UAB and now practices alongside his father at Reeves Cosmetic Dentistry, with a restorative focus that includes crowns, implants and full-arch restorations.

The father-and-son practice adds another generation of training without dividing the office into rigid categories. Dr. Todd Reeves continues to bring his comprehensive and cosmetic perspective to a practice where more complex restorative needs can also be considered collaboratively.

BEYOND THE DENTAL OFFICE

A Commitment to SOZO Children

Service outside dentistry has also been an important part of Dr. Reeves’ life. His longstanding involvement with SOZO Children has included service connected with children in Uganda, fundraising and participation in the organization’s work.

That work reflects something patients who have known Dr. Reeves for years often recognize in the practice itself. Relationships matter beyond the immediate task in front of you, whether that task happens to be dentistry or something much larger.

THE REEVES APPROACH

The values behind the work extend beyond dentistry.

Dr. Reeves’ involvement with SOZO Children reflects a long-term commitment to service and relationships outside the dental office.
